Q: How to get to Fung Yune Butterfly Reserve and Fung Yuen Nature & Culture Academy education center ?

Q: Is there a fee to visit our reserve?

A: The Day pass costs HK$20 per adult, children aged 12 or below and senior citizen card holders are free to visit. In addition, with a valid membership card, you can have unlimited free visit in our reserve. For details, please visit this page. The Day pass and membership card can be processed immediately upon arrival, and all incomes will be allocated for environmental conservation purpose.

 

Q: The opening date and time of the reserve and education center ?

A: The opening hours are Monday to Sunday, 9:30am ~ 5:00pm. Public holidays are open as usual, except for Christmas and the next day, New Year's Day and Chinese New Year holidays. In case of any special arrangement, our website and Facebook announcement shall prevail.

 

Q: Is there any parking space near the reserve?

A: The reserve shares an outdoor Fung Yuen residents parking lot of Fung Yuen Village. Visitors can apply for a Day parking permit upon arrival at the education center. The fee is HK$20 plus a refundable deposit of HK$80. Due to the limited number of parking spaces, if there is a large-scale event on the day, no parking service will be provided. An announcement will be made on our website and Facebook.

 

Q: Will there be toilets nearby the reserve and the education center?

A: Visitors can use the public toilet located opposite the bridge outside the center.

 

Q: Are there catering services in the education center and reserve? Can I eat and drink inside the reserve area?

A: There is no food supply in the education center and reserve, but there are drinks for sale in the education center. 

Q: Does the education center accept electronic money?

A: Drinks, souvenirs, books or day pass etc., sold in the education center can only accept cash payment.

 

Q: Can pets be brought to visit? Can I push a baby stroller? Can the wheelchairs used by disabled people go to the reserve?

A: No pets are allowed. The reserve is a natural conservation area which paths may be rugged and not suggest for baby strollers and wheelchairs entre the reserve area.

 

Q: Will there be any special arrangements in case of bad weather on the day of visiting the reserve?

A: According to the severe weather guidelines, when the Observatory issues “Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals No.3 or above” or "Red, Black Rainstorm, and Thunderstorm Warning", the reserve will be closed; visitors can return to the education center to temporarily avoid severe weather or leave.

 

Q: Is there a guided tour service for visiting the reserve?

A: Visitors can visit the reserve by themselves and there is no guided tour service. However, individual visitors or groups can participate in our ecotour in the following two ways:

 

1. Individual Visit

• Fung Yuen Butterfly Festival will be held in every last Sunday of each month from 9:30am to 12:30pm*

• Butterfly Festival provide exhibition, games and regular guided tours (1st section 10:30am-11:30am, 2nd section 12:00nn-1:00pm, except under rainstorm warning condition*). Each session requires 5 or more participants to make a reservation)

2. Group Visit

• Groups can sign up for the visit through the "Fung Yuen Culture and Nature Guided Tour". For details, please visit this page.
