Fung Yuen Butterfly Festival 2024 – Expedition of the Danainae

Every autumn and winter, the mysterious Danainae makes a spectacular overwintering journey. This year's carnival theme is "Expedition of the Danainae". We sincerely invite you to explore the Butterfly Expedition at Feng Yuan Butterfly Conservation Area and appreciate the wonders of nature.

This carnival will not be completely open to the public. Tickets will be available to the public to participate in the event, while seats are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Date: November 3, 2024 (Sunday)

Time: 10 am to 5 pm

Location: Fung Yuen Estate and Fung Yuen Butterfly Conservation Area, Tai Po​​

Target: Public and parents and children (children aged two and under are free)

Ecological tour - Ecological tour of Fengyuan Butterfly Conservation Area

Creative handicrafts—making exquisite and interesting little handicrafts

Citizen Science Experience—Learn about and participate in citizen science research on the butterfly’s winter migration

Fung Yuen Butterfly Festival 2024 Ticket Notes:


The ticket indicates the guided tour time. Ticket holders can visit the park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the day. Visitors who purchase the afternoon guided tour are recommended to enter the park early to visit other carnival stalls and entertainment areas.
Children aged 2 or under can enter for free with ticket-holding family members.

Each ticket includes:

Guided tour (1 session per person) + workshops/games (3 sessions in total) +country snacks and drinks (1 per person) Participants are free to participate in other additional fee/free workshops, or purchase country snacks and drinks
Booth content may be changed due to conditions on the event day without further notice.

​According to severe weather guidelines, an announcement will be made on the website at 08:00 on the event day whether the event will need to be postponed or cancelled.

Q&A:

 

Q: How to get to the event venue?
A: It is recommended to take the 20P minibus at the "Tai Po Market Station Minibus Terminus", get off at Fung Yuen Estate and go to Area A near the alighting point to start the tour.

Q: How long does each guided tour last?
A: About 45 minutes.

Q: Is there any charge for children to participate in this activity?
A: Children aged 0-2 can enter for free with their ticket-holding family members.

Q: Will the Fengyuan Butterfly Conservation Area be open on the day of the event?
A: The Fung Yuen Butterfly Conservation Area will only be open to those participating in public guided tours on that day. Other visitors are asked to visit on other days.

Q: How to leave Fung Yuen and return to Tai Po Market MTR Station?
A: It is recommended to take minibus route 20P at "Fung Yuen Terminus" and return to "Tai Po Market Station Minibus Terminus".

Q: Are there parking spaces near the event venue?
A: There will not be any parking spaces for citizens to park on the day of the event. It is recommended that you take public transportation to the event venue.

Q: Can visitors who have not purchased tickets attend guided tours or workshops?
A: All guided tours or workshops require tickets to be purchased in advance and will not be open to visitors on that day.

Q: If there is bad weather on the day of the event, will there be any special arrangements?
A: According to severe weather guidelines, it will be announced on the website at 08:00 on the event day whether the event needs to be postponed or canceled.

Q: Will there be restrooms near the event venue?
A: There are two restroom locations, (1) at the roundabout next to the minibus terminus (2) outside Fung Yuen Center

Q: Can pets be brought to visit? Can baby strollers be pushed? Can wheelchairs used by the disabled enter the conservation area?
A: Pets, baby carriages, and wheelchairs are not allowed into the conservation area; the conservation area is in the countryside and the ground will be uneven, making it inconvenient for baby carriages and wheelchairs. Wheels may also be damaged.
