5th INTERNATIONAL
BUTTERFLY CONFERENCE

5th International Butterfly Conference:
Butterfly Effect: City and Biodiversity
Fung Yuen Butterfly Reserve has always been dedicated to conservation, aiming to provide enhanced, sustainable habitats for butterflies and other native species. Beyond local efforts, the Reserve actively engages in knowledge sharing, connecting with scholars across regions to exchange insights and enrich Hong Kong's biodiversity. Over the past twenty years, Fung Yuen Butterfly Reserve has proven the value of habitat conservation in protecting wildlife and boosting local biodiversity. In doing so, it has established a collaborative butterfly conservation network spanning Asia and beyond.
Building on this foundation, we have developed the “Butterfly Garden Certification Program (BGCP)” and the “International Butterfly Network (IBN)” platform. These initiatives share a common mission: to promote butterfly awareness and drive conservation efforts by connecting districts, countries, and regions worldwide.
This year, with the continued support of the Countryside Conservation Funding Scheme, we are proud to bring together cross-regional expertise to host "The 5th International Butterfly Conference" under the theme: "Butterfly Effect: City and Biodiversity."Through these international professional exchanges, we will delve into how "habitat creation and restoration" as a key Nature-Based Solution that can enhance urban biodiversity. Our goal is to deepen our vision of constructing ecological butterfly gardens across communities, seamlessly connecting "points, lines, and planes" throughout Hong Kong and beyond.
We warmly invite participants from all walks of life who care about nature, butterflies, and biodiversity conservation to join us.
