Butterfly Garden Project

The Butterfly Garden Project by Fung Yuen Butterfly Reserve is supported by Quality Education Fund, along with Chinese University of Hong Kong and New Territories Headmaster’s Association. This programme is Hong Kong’s first outdoor ecology class, giving the opportunity for students and community to build their own Butterfly Garden. By establishing the garden, participants can also attend lectures, workshop, fieldtrips, training, administrative training. This educates people across Hong Kong, providing them a platform to develop their skills and interests, and promote conservation work for our next generation.

This programme has 4 stages, and runs for 2 years. This includes a comprehensive study on various species of butterflies, the concept of a butterfly reserve, its operation and management structure, and the short and long term goals of the establishment. In addition, schools may use resources and materials at the home-grown butterfly reserve to support their teaching in their classrooms.

Build more Ecological Hotspots in different areas of Hong Kong, connecting points to each other to form Ecological Stepping Stone, so as to form a complete ecological network and increase butterfly effects, so that the whole Hong Kong can enjoy benefit.
